Meet JANINE WOLF, K103 Midday Host

Hi there, it’s Janine Wolf…where do I begin? I’m an Oregonian, born in The Dalles, but mostly grew up in Portland. After graduation from Portland State, I had to figure out what I was going to do with myself, and after a local air personality told me I’d be good on the radio…I “went for it”. I’ve been on the air for over 40 years, starting my career at KUIK in Hillsboro, Oregon. I guess you could call me a pioneer, because I ended up being the first female disc jockey on what was then, Portland’s #1 Top 40 station, KGW. In 1980 I got a radio job in LA at the legendary, KHJ and spent 25 years in that market at a bunch of great radio stations. My entertainment journey also led me to hosting a local TV show in LA, for which I received three Emmy nominations, and I was also a television booth announcer for a couple of Live TV shows.

In 2001 I followed another dream and left radio for five years to pursue a career in landscape design. After some college landscaping classes, and using my own yard as advertisement, my design/build company, Landscapes by Design, took off. During my first year I won HGTV’s “Landscaper’s Challenge”, catapulting my business to great success. In 2005 I made the decision to leave LA and return to Portland to be near my family and my aging parents; one of the best decisions I’ve made to date.

So here I am, back in Portland and fortunate enough to mostly work for iHeart the entire time. You may know me best from the former K103 Mornings with Bruce, John & Janine and now as the midday host on K103. I’m also a breast cancer survivor and have led K103’s Team Janine as the Top Fund Raising Team for the Oregon & SW Washington “More Than Pink Walk” (formerly Race for the Cure) for the past nine years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I still love gardening, I call it my “saving grace”; it’s where I can unwind, create and think. I also love to travel, and have been all over the world, and plan to do a lot more of it in years to come. In the past few years I have taken up kayaking, always looking for new beautiful places to launch. I’m a foodie and absolutely love Oregon and Washington wines. My family means everything to me, including my cat Lucky, and I’m blessed to still have my Mom.

I’m very much into supporting our community, and that means I shop, eat and buy local whenever I can. Anyone who knows me knows that when I like something, I like to spread the word; and that’s what I can do for you!

How about some pictures to get to know me better?
