Half-Off Adoptions At Oregon Humane Society

Oregon Humane Society is reducing adoption fees by 50% for ALL pets this weekend, Oct. 10-12, at their Portland and Salem campuses. The promotion is in response to both shelter locations being at capacity following slowing adoptions and the intake of 55 dogs from a recent neglect case.

“When our shelters are at capacity, our ability to help the community is severely hindered,” says Dr. Steve Kochis, OHS Chief Medical Officer and Interim CEO. “If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, now is the perfect time to open your heart and home to an animal in need.”

There are more than 200 pets available for adoption at OHS’ Salem and Portland campuses. It’s worth noting that this is only one-quarter of the total number of animals under care at OHS. Most recently, OHS assisted Polk County Sheriff’s Office with the intake of 41 dogs from a suspected neglect case. On Wednesday, OHS received another 14 dogs from this same case. Most of these dogs are not yet ready for adoption.

Adoption fees for ALL pets reduced by 50%. All adoptions include up-to-date vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and a free exam at OHS’ Community Veterinary Hospital in Portland and at participating VCA clinics in Salem. Available pets can be viewed at www.oregonhumane.org.
