Extreme summer heat returns starting Friday.
The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Watch in effect from Friday through late Sunday night for western Oregon, southwest Washington and the Columbia River Gorge.
Highs could reach 100 degrees. The lows will be in the mid 60s Friday night and near 70 on Saturday, which means little cooling for people without air conditioning.
Illness related to the heat is a concern. You should remain well hydrated and find cool places to be in the hottest parts of the day.
